Roma winger Diego Perotti insists any issue between Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala is “a controversy the media wanted to create”.
La Joya could miss out on this summer’s World Cup, with Argentina Coach Jorge Sampaoli leaving him out for the friendlies with Italy and Spain.
Dybala has said that he finds it difficult to play with Messi, as they take up similar positions, and the Barcelona superstar echoed those thoughts, while insisting there was no issue between the pair.
With some suggesting that Messi has undue influence over team selection, it has been rumoured that this clash is the reason that the Juventus forward has been left out.
“I don’t think he [Dybala] said it in the sense that he can’t play with him and that they don’t work together,” Perotti explained to Marca.
“But they play in the same position, or in a similar style, so since Leo is the best he won’t take his place.
“He was referring to the position, that sometimes they can collide on the pitch, but it was a controversy the media wanted to create.”
