Barcelona full-back Sergi Roberto is happy to have Lionel Messi back as “we’re not as strong without him”.
The Argentine superstar broke his arm against Sevilla, but despite not having medical clearance he’s in the squad to face Inter in the Champions League tomorrow night.
“He’s happy to start playing again, even if they haven’t given him clearance,” Sergi Roberto said in the pre-match Press conference.
“It’s always nice to have him here with us. After his injury, we were worried because he’s the best in the world and of course he influences us, but we also won without him.
“His absence reinforced the team, we played great games in which every player made progress.
“We’re all here to help each other, without Leo we’re not as a strong as with him, now we’re happy he’s recovered. Now we’re happy to re-establish the team dynamics with Leo.”
The 26-year-old also looked ahead to tomorrow’s game.
“We know that with a win we’ll finish first in the group, and we want to stay at the top.
“Obviously it’s important to win and secure top spot, but these are difficult matches. If we win tomorrow we’re calm, it’s a game like any other even if it’s an important one.
“In the first game we knew they’d want to keep the ball and play out from the back, so we pressed them high and we’ll try to do that tomorrow too. We’ll try to take possession away from them.”
Sergi Roberto also knows Mauro Icardi well, as they lived together when they were both in the Barça youth team.
“We lived together for a year, and the thing I remember most was that there was this iguana in a glass tank. I wish him [Icardi] the best.”
